“I” for the i-range of apple products stands bold to empower the symbol “I” for the internet, information and ultimately the individual who beholds a global information resource on his iphone. The interface and the background processing all play a vital role in making the iphone the great connector in the Internet-information network. And so the iphone apps are but a window to the world-galore of information interaction and info-tainment, taking you on a virtual tour, through a hand-held, mobile and versatile device. What goes into the procedures to design for iphone apps, which makes iphone the standard ‘Reach, Touch and Experience’ utility cum service? The iphone sports impeccable features such as a (3D processor, multi-touch screen, camera, accelerometer) ,which coordinate to give you a seamless internet connectivity through Wi-fi and 3G. How to design iphone apps, so that the interface and functionality is simply a summation of an excellent utility and valuable service? The procedure for designing iphone apps starts with the feasibility study of the client’s business needs. The proposal’s marketability is envisioned through the iphone apps medium, along with prospects of growth at the same time; thereby assessing the viability of the project within the technical, economical, operational and time-frame parameters.Once the project is considered feasible the next stage of procedure for designing iphone apps is that of the Apps Concept, where the developer will originate with a concept correlating it with the business requirements, the target customers and the value-additions to the client’s existing brand value; to come out with a model, which will define the specifications and the scope of the project. The concept translates into design: for the prototype and the UI(User-interface).Its well known as to how the iPhone captured the Internet fad through its interface that made virtual reality cater to real-time needs(be it a music store or a book store apps) rendering boundless connectivity to anything and everything, just at the touch of a fingerSo the prototype will encompass the user-experience and functionality for each screen of the apps and provide a simulation of how the apps will exactly work on the iphone. The simulation process consequently leads to the actual design and development wherein the coding for the iphone apps is done as per the framework delivered by the prototype and UI design phase. Apple’s developer tools for coding such as X-code, Cocoa Touch, framework and Objective C, makes the best use of technology to deliver to the interface with features such as animation, networking, inter-operability ,and visuals. The Apps is considered ready for deployment only after it goes through the process of testing. Testing is a crucial phase in the procedure for designing iphone apps. Here the apps is checked for its functionality and its relevance to the prototype, developing fixes, for existing bugs and proactively plug in, prospective fixes.Once the testing phase is over the apps is ready for launch where in the marketing tools and techniques are made ready, by providing the most ideal platform, and identifying the target customers and also the potential onesPost development, there should be sustained efforts towards the maintenance of the apps, with a focus on the evolving user by simplified solutions through innovative upgrades. The procedure for designing iPhone apps is an extension of the development cycle used for web-applications, with additional features, for a novel interface, a new medium rising from hi-end design tools. And iPhone apps also anchor to the web-medium applications, as a matter of base-connectivity (for the frequent travelers, the iPhone is ‘way to stay in touch with their desk ‘). Thus, the roots of iphone apps technology traces to evolved web-application tools(right from graphical user-interface or user interface design), and strengthening the web-medium of development for wider scope for futuristic applications is web development Company Pixint Graphics which has core specialization in web design and development., ecommerce portals, and web portal development. At Pixint, the service is not just of a web development company, our portfolio extends to custom web development, with greater scope for creativity, innovation to create a framework which is extensible and adaptable to growing customer requirements and the evolving technology.

Adobe AIR is a great platform to build efficient and cutting edge desktop applications, that work on any operating system.

In the last few years, hundreds of very useful applications have been built on AIR for all sorts of purposes. Here we focus our attention on apps built for web and graphic designers.

This list only contains applications that have proven to be dependable and useful for designers. We’ve split it up into these sections:

1. Splashup Light:

Splashup Light is a casual desktop based image editor. It provides a lot of features to enhance, manipulate and edit your photos with minimum effort.

2. Color Lovers:

Color Lovers offers a desktop color finder for searching the ColorLovers community database. Using this app you can search from over 1 million named colors and 300,000 user created color palettes.

3. Contrast-A:

Contrast-A allows you to check for contrast, experiment with color combination and interact with a 3 dimensional RGB color space.

4. LiveBrush:

LiveBrush is a drawing app that lets you create extra-ordinary graphics by combining simple motion controls with creative brush styles.

5. Icon Generator:

Icon Generator allows you to create stylish icons with minimum drawing abilities. Just select the type of icon you want, customize the text and color and create your icon.

6. e2vector:

e2vector is an illustration tool with powerful features like layers, masks, gradients, intersection and path splicing. It also allows you to import/export SVG files.

7. ColorPicker:

Using ColorPicker you can either pick a color from a color grid or design a color using sliders to adjust the RGB values of a color. An essential tool for somebody trying to play around with colors.

8. ColorBrowser:

ColorBrowser is a simple app to organize your favorite color palettes locally. You can import color palettes that you have created elsewhere in the form of ASE files.

9. Kuler:

Kuler is probably the most popular design app for AIR. Kuler lets you generate color themes for any project and browse through thousands of themes created by the Kuler community. It lets you experiment with color variations without any hassle to design your new project.

10. Random Pattern:

A cool app that creates color patterns based on your given parameters.

There are a tonne of great apps out there for Air. We’ve compiled our favorites here, but are there any we’ve missed? Which apps do you use?

Applications have the ability to go viral – and Facebook is all about viral: But did you ever stop to think how much apps can help increase the effectiveness of your Facebook Ad?The beauty of Facebook apps – they’re interactive: Something your fans can click on, and get a tiny reward in the form of a result. It can be as minimal as the “Like This” link you click on ads, allowing you to express your preference… or something that provides a more tangible reward. For example, clicking on a flower to “send” it to a friend. And now that Facebook’s development platform allows anyone who’s interested to concoct their own app, it’s something you may wish to consider as a strategy to enhance your Facebook page – or ad!In case you’re breaking out in hives at the word “app”, let me ask you a question: Have you ever created a widget? If you’re nodding in relief, and saying, “Oh yes. I’ve created lots of widgets!” you should have no problem. That’s basically what Facebook apps are; or at least, how they operate.App ExamplesIf you’re brand new to apps and are just curious what they look like… think of all those little links on your Facebook pages:- Poke- Like- Facebook WallAnd, of course, all those annoying messages your Facebook friends send you: “Give Jane a Virtual Slap”. So you click, and the first thing you see is the message: “Allow Access? Allowing Slap Your Friends will let it pull your profile information, photos, your friends’ info, and other content that it requires to work”. You then either click “Allow”, or the “Leave Application” link. If you click “Allow”, you’ve added the App to your Facebook account… as well as allowing it to access all your information.Apps that Catch On QuicklyIf you want your app to catch on quickly, there are certain attributes you need to make sure it contains. It’s not nuclear physics – just logical common sense:- Migrating users to your website by inserting a link- Incorporating an element of interaction- Utilizing current events (e.g. an app that allows you to vote or input on some element of upcoming “green” events)Including competition against the computer, or against your user’s “friends”- Creating an unbearably cute app with appealing graphics that hugs, sprinkles fairy dust, gives jewel to or other wise lavishes attention on your lonely Facebook friendsThis latter tactic can be especially successful in increasing your app’s popularity because when the element of competition is added, you can virtually count on users promoting the app for you by begging friends to “vote” or click – or whatever way you’ve set up for them to use it.Making Money with AppsYes. You can. But if you are using one to augment your Facebook ad, making money should be a side-effect, rather than your main tunnel-vision focus. How Do You Actually Make a Facebook App?If you are familiar with PHP and MySQL, or other coding languages, you can easily create one from the Facebook Developer page, which walks you through the process. If not, you might want to consider visiting a site such as guru.com, and hire a coder to create one for you (search, using the parameter “Facebook applications”).Whether you regard apps as the most annoying curse of the 21st century or the most exciting thing since “The Pirates of the Caribbean”, it’s a subject you shouldn’t ignore – particularly if you are considering marketing with Facebook Ads.

Business today is not restricted regionally as it has become global now. This mode of business demands new marketing strategy and planning. Among the various tools for marketing for small firms and big enterprises social media is an effective tool. Many of the social media sites facilitate business to make advertisements, promotions, brandings, sales, campaign, product launching etc. on their sites with appropriate tools and very interactive ways.

There are numerous ways to get benefits from the Social Media platform. You can earn money through pay per click, advertisements, exciting apps, affiliate marketing and the Branding itself. From the Twitter like micro-blogging platform you can get connected with thousands of users at the same time.

Wow! Great benefits but? Yes, you have to keep logged on to the Internet constantly and therefore, you need to sit at the front of the computer or your laptop for most of your working hours.

Very tedious! No, there is a way out from this too. That is the invention of iPhone!

It seems as though everyone is buzzing with the concept of ‘open source’ in the past few years, but few realize that the original open source platform has been with us for almost two decades now. HTML is the most widely spread and open software language on the planet, no website you see could exist without it, and it is absolutely, positively free and open. Of course not everyone wants to spend the time and effort to learn the intricacies of HTML. Fortunately developers have built an increasingly easy-to-use and constantly expanding library of softwares to handle most of the web design tasks for you. While these tools used to be expensive and not always reliable years of continuous development have brought both the complexity up and the price down. Down so low in fact that a number of eminently capable web design tools are available to anyone with an internet connection and at an astounding price, namely: free!

The web design software below is all you need to get almost any website concept you can imagine off the drawing board and onto the web, and you won’t have to invest a single penny to use them.

1. GIMP

Possibly the leader in the new era of open source software and definitely one of the finest examples of the possible excellence of free software, GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) has been consistently sited as a worthy replacement for expensive and processor intensive image manipulation programs such as Photoshop.

Every website needs stunning graphics to stand out, and having high quality graphics and photos is a must for any online business. Therefore some image manipulation software is a requirement for everyone. While Adobe has held a well-respected monopoly on this corner of the software market many critics have now sited GIMP as a worthy competitor. While GIMP may now have the vast array of features and plug-ins for which Photoshop is known it does do all the basic functions needed by most web developers and it does them much cheaper – free in fact.

2. Amaya Web Browser and WYSIWYG HTML Editor

When you want the best go to the source. The Amaya Web Browser and WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor is published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), who are the folks who set the standards for the web. In other words these are the folks who establish the standards by which all websites must comply (technically) and they have developed a web browser and WYSIWYG editor for you to use, for free. How could it get any better?

3. FileZilla Open Source FTP / SFTP Client

Once you’ve got your website all set to roll you still need to get it uploaded to your server, and since you haven’t paid for anything yet, why should you start now? FileZilla lets you upload and download files, resume uploads or downloads and work with firewalls – all of the usual stuff. What sets FileZilla apart from other free FTP Clients is that it also supports SFTP (Secure FTP) and SSL secured connections.

4. Joomla Web Content Management System (WCMS)

Now for this entry, we’ll have to take two steps back. If you are developing a big website with lots of frequent changes you might want to think about using a Web Content Management System, such as Joomla. What Joomla basically does is give you absolute control over your entire website through an online control panel. From your control panel you can update all pages, release a new one or even make site-wide changes with a click of a button. Web Designers favor WCMS sites as it is extremely easy to make stylistic changes that appear on every page with very little effort. While you might have to invest a little more time and effort to get yourself well-versed in the complexities of such a robust and powerful WCMS you won’t have to invest any money, as the basic Joomla installation is free.

5. Firefox Web Developer Toolbar

Just because your website is up and running doesn’t mean that your job is finished. In order to make sure every visitor to your site gets the experience you intend them to have you’ll need to check each and every page for errors and functionality. This can be a time consuming and tedious task, but luckily for you the Firefox Web Developer Toolbar can help you every step of the way by giving you easy access to all the tools necessary to put your website through it’s paces. Available as a free Firefox Web Browser Add-On, the Web Developer Toolbar will let you quickly and conveniently test the various aspects of your webpages by providing instant access to CSS editing, resolution variations, element outlines, form testing and cache disablement – just to name a few.

The online design community is simply overflowing with inspiration. Every day countless blog posts are being published showcasing 30-100 amazing examples of “insert item here.” Further, CSS galleries like our own contain hundreds or even thousands of great site designs.

With all this inspiration being tossed at you all the time, you need a way to catalogue and store it. Today we’ll look at a few tools out there that do exceptionally well at this very thing.

The Value of Inspiration

To cutoff anyone already forming an argument about the evils of design inspiration, here’s my preemptive rebuttal. It is without a doubt the case that galleries of inspiration serve as buffets for hack designers who simply ripoff the work of others. Further, overuse of inspiration can stifle your own creativity. However, this is a misuse of the system and does not merit eliminating inspiration altogether.

Examining good design is like ingesting nutritional content for your brain. Similar to browsing a dictionary to better your vocabulary, viewing excellent work done by others increases the breadth of your creativity. The key is to be inspired towards originality, not away from it.

When you see a horizontally scrolling website, don’t try to figure out how you can mimic it, instead consider how you can create a completely different take on the horizontal scroll. When you see a logo that uses negative space to create an arrow, don’t try to do the same thing slightly different so as not to be accused of anything, instead be inspired to think about negative space in new ways.

You simply can’t construct a logical argument against using design inspiration. Almost everything you create is somehow affected by things that you’ve seen in the past that impacted you in a certain way. You see a website that uses rounded corners, forget all about it, and six months later you’re using rounded corners on your own site. It goes the other way too. Sometimes you see ten sites in a single week that use reflections so you consciously make a decision to avoid them.

The point is, when used properly, inspiration will make you a better designer in the same way that reading great novels will make you a better writer, listening to great music will make you a better song writer and visiting the Louvre will make you a better artist. So why not be methodical about it?

The Tools

Now that my rant about inspiration is out of the way, let’s look at a few tools that I think are top-notch ways to collect inspirational design.

LittleSnapper

LittleSnapper is hands down my favorite way to collect, store and organize digital inspiration. This amazing mac application takes screenshots way beyond the default OS X functionality.

LittleSnapper allows you to create global shortcuts for screenshots just like the core OS X tool but instead of popping up on your desktop or clipboard, they are imported and stored in a library. Here you can title your snaps, organize them into folders and smart folders and tag them. Think of it as iPhoto for screenshots (you can also use iPhoto to store inspiration by the way).

You can easily snap a specific window, a certain area of the screen or the entire screen. One of the killer features is that you can snap an entire web page straight from Safari. Not just the portion visible on the screen mind you, the whole thing. You can also use the integrated browser to select certain images on a web page and LS will grab them automatically.

Little Snapper supports exporting snaps to a web service called Ember, which we’ll discuss next.

Ember

The LittleSnapper guys have also created Ember, a free browser-based tool for sharing images (LittleSnapper not required). It’s basically a social network for designers to collect and share inspiration (like Dribbble but not as exclusive).

You can upload up to 30 images per month (unlimited for $24/yr). You can follow other users as well as favorite, tag and categorize images. Ember contains over 200,000 images to browse so it’s an excellent place to get lost for an hour in great design examples.

For other sites that let you find and favorite inspiration, check out Creattica and Dribbble.

ZooTool

ZooTool is a free social bookmarking tool cool enough to make me abandon Delicious in a heartbeat (after I easily imported all my Delicious content of course).

The reason it’s so much better is that rather than keeping a simple list of bookmarks like Delicious, ZooTool takes a snapshot of the page you’re bookmarking for a visual reference. You can either grab an entire web page or just specific parts such as an image or movie.

Your bookmarks are presented in an beautiful interface that would be almost indistinguishable from that of LittleSnapper if not for some added wood texture.

As with Ember, ZooTool allows you to organize and tag your snaps as well as follow other users and favorite their images. ZooTool’s convenient bookmarklet makes it about the best tool around for quickly saving bits of inspiration while browsing the web.

Evernote

If you don’t know what Evernote is, you’ve surely been living alone in the woods with no Internet access. Evernote is the single best free way to capture random digital clutter. This includes everything from passwords to receipts.

Odds are, you haven’t just given up being a hermit and have either heard of Evernote or are among the 3 million people that already use it. However, you may not have ever considered using it to store digital inspiration. If you have Evernote installed, you can simply right-click on any image you see online and add it to Evernote. It’s that easy! You can also add entire web pages this way but the CSS tends to get screwed up in the process (“add page as PDF” is a little more reliable).

Once it’s in Evernote, you can tag and organize to your heart’s content and view all your inspiration as a page of thumbnails. You can also sync to both an online account with a web interface and to any other device where you have Evernote installed: other computers, iPhones, iPads, etc.

Snipi

Snipi is a free web service that’s a lot like ZooTool. You use a bookmarklet or Firefox plugin to collect elements as you’re browsing the web. You can grab images, videos or products and organize them in your account. You can also create “streams” of content and share them with others.

I found it to be a little clunky, but definitely worth checking out if you don’t like ZooTool for some reason.

Stixi

Stixi is an awesome web app that I stumbled upon while researching this article. With Stixi you can create digital boards of positionable content (like a bulletin board of sticky notes). You can upload images and documents, add todos, or write notes.

This would be an excellent tool for creating and maintaining moodboards for specific projects or simply organizing visual inspiration in a highly interactive manner.

WordPress

This app is great if you have a WordPress blog – if you don’t you should get one now as it is an excellent way of showcasing your work. The WordPress iPhone app lets you write posts, manage comments and upload pictures on the go. As many bloggers will know – often your best ideas for articles come whilst on the move.

Mint

Do you think it’s a hassle staying in control of the accounting? If the answer is yes you will probably like the Mint iPhone app. With this little tool you will be able to stay on top of your finances, watch your investment performance and check your credit card balances. If you are running a web design business, you’ll appreciate the flexibility this gives you.

Action Method

This app is perfect for you that need some help to stay organized. With Action Method you can organize your projects; manage deadlines, delegate necessary tasks – all via your iPhone; and all whilst you aren’t at your desk! It is a commercial project management app, but the cost is well worth the flexibility it gives you.

Tweetie

Tweetie is one of the most fantastic iPhone apps we’ve ever stumbled across. These are just a couple of the features that are included: handling of multiple twitter accounts, view replies, direct messages, favorites, post new tweets and retweets. The list can go on forever. Download this app and stay in contact with all of your web designer friends.

FileMagnet

Are you a web designer that is always on the go? Then FileMagnet is the perfect app for you. With FileMagnet you can copy files, regardless of file format, from your computer to your iPhone meaning that you will be able work wherever you are.

Sketches

Every artist should doodle every once in a while. Sketches is great iPhone app that lets you jot down all of your ideas using nothing more than your finger. This is the perfect tool for those times when you get a brilliant idea and don’t know where to write it down – or indeed when that doodling feeling comes over you.

WhatTheFont

Even seen a font and wondered what it’s called? No need to worry anymore as this app will solve the mystery. Simply take a picture of the text and let WhatTheFont analyze it. Within a matter of seconds you’ll have the result.

Bill4Time Mobile

As a web designer you are often charging your client per hour and with the Bill4Time app it is easy to keep track of how much time you’ve spent on a project.
