I’m going to give you a super easy way to improve your blog conversions, as well the #1 MISTAKE I see most people making while trying to sell more stuff on their sites. (and believe me, it was a mistake I was making in SPADES for quite a while as well) The simple truth is that blogs are the BEST way to convert eyeballs into income….but you need to master a few super simple skills to make it happen in a hurry.

Design confusion. Aesthetic ignorance. Or said differently…a focus on BEAUTY over function, flow and funnel. The more complex and confusing you design your site, the less likely people are to take action on ANYTHING. Magazine style WordPress layouts? They look great…..but will KILL your conversions. Unless you have a super large authority site that people are willing to pay you for impressions, or you have another monetization strategy in place, those little square ads in the sidebar aren’t going to make you rich as well. I’m going to give you the easiest way to improve your income from your current blog, and if you’ve got some traffic that’s NOT converting, test this out and see how much your conversions (and cash flow) improve.

Thin is IN (and I’m not talking about my dating preference either, although I do tend to gravitate towards waify women)

Here is the thing. The THINNER you make your layout, the more flow and “funnel” you will have. Lead people down the page vertically with good content…and use “hooks”, callouts or traditional direct response cues to convert your visitors on the offers you DO have.

Some WordPress themes have these built in, and if not, there are some excellent plug ins that will allow you to stick good call to action style stuff in your content, without getting your hands messy with code and css and that sort of thing.

(don’t worry….it’s not my strong suit either, although I am pretty good at board games, ping pong and have some other strengths I’m not comfortable discussing here)

That’s really, truly it. Keep your layout between 650-750 pixels wide when possible, use colored “call outs” or hooks, and keep the killer content (and conversions) coming!
