Dict.CN’s search engine, online Chinese English dictionary, fast, convenient, with audio reading.

Chinese-Japanese-English Character Hint Bar

Shows translations instantly for Chinese/English/Japanese words, characters and short phrases under the cursor.

Note: MSWindows must be setup to display Asian characters from control panel, Regional/Language settings. See my webpage and forum.

The free version here is a limited older version.

Chinup – Chinese Popup Translator 0.1

Hold your mouse over a Chinese word and get an instant translation with pinyin pronunciation. Can also analyse a whole page to help with learning new vocabulary.

To start the translator click the Chinup button and wait for the dictionary to load. You can then read Chinese websites by simply moving your mouse over the words. You can stop the translator at any time by clicking the stop button. If you would like a list of all the words on the page in a printable format just click the analyse button. This can be useful for people who are learning Chinese who would like to study a pages vocabulary.

The analyse page lists all words along with their number of occurrences, Traditional counterpart, pinyin and of course English.

If you have any ideas to make this extension better please let me know. For the next release I plan to get it working with Traditional Chinese as well as highlight the words under the mouse.

Baidu Dictionary is an Online Chinese-English Dictionary Search Engine, quick access, convenient for everyday use.

Chinese Perapera-kun: Chinese Popup Translator

Simply put, this extension will allow you read Chinese on websites. This is useful for just getting around a site, or even MORE useful if you are studying Chinese. It works with both Simplified and Traditional characters, and also allows you to export words to a file to study later.

After installation, you can goto the “customize toolbar” menu and find the green book icon and put it on your firefox toolbar. When you are on a site with Chinese, simply click the green book icon and then put your mouse over Chinese words to view the reading and defintion.

In the extension options dialog you can set a place to save entries to, then when a the popup window with a definition is being displayed, if you press it will export the topmost entry to the file you designated.

East Asian Translator

To translate a whole page, simply right-click and select the appropriate language pair from the “Translate from…” menu. The extension will translate the highlighted text on a page if selection is made. The translation will appear in a new tab.

You need to get East Asian languages enabled in XP (Regional and Language Options control panel).

DictCN

DictCn is an online English to Chinese (and vise versa) dictionary extension for Firefox.

It is a handy real-time language tool with audio support.

Usage:

To use DictCN, simply hover the mouse (coming with 3.0) upon the word you want to translate , or select it (drag or double-click to highlight the word), the translation (pronunciation and explanation) will show up soon in a layer on the same web page.

You may click on the ‘D’ icon on the status-bar to activate and deactivate DictCN (color of the icon changes correspondingly). You may also press ctrl-alt-i (since 3.1.4) (ctrl-alt-d 3.1.3 and previous) short-key to do the job.

By Moving the mouse over the translation, you can hear the speech, and a click on it will bring you to the detailed explanation page.
